“Zumba has got to be one of the most fun ways to exercise” said one of the regular ladies. Zumba is a group exercise class structured around music and dancing, so you get a great workout and have a super time doing it. Three weekly classes feature one hour of DANCING, a balance challenge and thorough stretch segment, all together about 70 minutes.
You go at your own pace, whether that’s slow (especially in the beginning) or with a lot of energy. Each song has its own ‘easy to follow’ routine. We enjoy a mix of music with a large focus on Latin rhythms plus Disco, Bhangra, Irish, Swing and Bellydance tunes.
The many benefits include cardio-vascular improvements, brain health, muscle conditioning, balance (especially with our balance segment), flexibility and social interaction with all the lovely folks you meet at the class. Many of our members are new to the area, and others have been here their whole lives. The current mix includes women from their twenties to their seventies, (we are still waiting for our first gentleman to join). This class is designed for adults who have good mobility. If you love to dance, this is for you!
Class fees are 5/$50 or 10/$90 with a drop-in option available, plus your first class is free!
Allison is also involved with the Firelights Bellydance Troupe and offers workshops and special event bookings.
